A little about us...
unitē Mental Health and Wellness is the vision of Angela Price and Beth Shannon. Raised in the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and friends since elementary school, they have strong local roots and a desire to help their fellow community members access quality mental health care services.

Angela and Beth recognized a need through their own personal experiences and hearing the stories of many others who have struggled to find appropriate care. With Angela's background in business/finance and Beth's personal experiences navigating mental health care, they felt they could make a difference.

There is an increasing demand for mental health services and a shortage of providers, especially in rural areas. One of the biggest challenges for those needing care is knowing where to go or knowing how to get connected to the help they need.

According to the American Psychological Association, 70% of primary care visits are driven by mental health issues including anxiety, panic, depression, and stress. Of these individuals, 80% continue to receive treatment by primary care doctors rather than a mental health professional. And, out of these 80%, if a specific mental health provider is not found for them, only 10% will actually follow up with mental health care. These statistics show that individuals want and need help finding care.

unitē Mental Health and Wellness, a nonprofit organization, was founded to be a part of the solution. It's goals are:

-
To increase access to mental healthcare in rural communities. We currently offer counseling services onsite in our office located at 1014 College Ave, Houghton, MI 49931.
-
To come alongside individuals in their time of need and help them walk through the often challenging and frustrating process of finding the mental health care they are seeking.
-
If care cannot be found locally, we look remotely. Individuals can connect to remote care via telehealth in our private and comfortable office. We have mental health support staff available to help address any challenges that may arise.

We are not a crisis center. We are here to connect you with ongoing care.

We believe everyone should have access to quality mental health care.
Our Mission
Our mission is to unite individuals in rural communities with quality mental health care while also supporting the professionals who provide it.
Our Vision
To be a leader in non-crisis mental health care for rural communities.
